Today we submitted our entry for the Rockler Plywood Challenge, hosted by The Modern Maker podcast. The challenge was to build something using one sheet of plywood. We love a challenge so we decided to put our skills to the test.  Instead of building something flat, we stepped up the possibility by bending the plywood in complex shapes to build a modern hourglass table.

Bending a flat piece of plywood into a cone shape was not easy. There was a lot of math involved and some trial and error to work it all out. The most difficult part was figuring out how to clamp a cone shape… the plywood actually sprung out of the bucket clamp as you’ll see in the video.

In the end we were happy with the finished design and contest submission. Fingers crossed!
